About Berachain Token Security
Berachain uses a novel Proof of Liquidity (PoL) consensus model built on BeaconKit with EVM compatibility, featuring a tri-token system: BERA (gas), BGT (governance, non-transferable, earned through DeFi), and HONEY (stablecoin). Validators must attract BGT delegations by incentivizing liquidity pools, creating a unique flywheel between DeFi activity and chain security. The ecosystem includes Kodiak, Infrared, and BeraBorrow. This novel economic model creates attack vectors around fake BGT farming tokens and fraudulent liquidity provision schemes.

Berachain Security FAQ
What makes Berachain tokens different?
Berachain's Proof of Liquidity and tri-token model (BERA, BGT, HONEY) create unique dynamics. Scammers may create fake versions of ecosystem tokens. Verify addresses carefully.
Are Berachain DeFi tokens safe?
The Berachain ecosystem is still new. While official ecosystem tokens are generally vetted, many third-party tokens lack audits. Our scanner helps identify risky contracts.
How do I avoid Berachain scams?
Only interact with tokens verified through official Berachain channels, check contract addresses carefully, and always scan tokens with our tool before trading.
How do fake BGT farming scams work on Berachain?
BGT is non-transferable and can only be earned by providing liquidity to whitelisted pools or received through validator reward vaults. Scammers deploy tokens called "wrapped BGT" or "BGT Boost" claiming to make BGT tradeable. These are always fraudulent — BGT cannot be wrapped or transferred by design. Our scanner flags any token impersonating BGT or HONEY using unofficial contract addresses.
What Proof of Liquidity delegation risks should I watch for?
Berachain validators must direct BGT emissions to attract delegators, creating incentive markets. Scammers set up fake validator reward vaults that steal deposited LP tokens instead of distributing BGT. Only delegate through the official Berachain Station interface. Our scanner checks reward vault contracts for hidden withdrawal functions and verifies they match the official vault implementation.
